Bansko is Bulgaria's number 1 Ski resort and following a multi-millon euro investment Bansko is the the best and most modern ski resort of all Bulgarian resorts. Bansko has the best snow-sure record with excellent snow conditions from December to May and this ski season generally runs from 15 December - 15 April.
The alpine character of the Pirin Mountains create excellent skiing conditions for all types of skiers from Nursery, beginners to advanced, including those that want to go off piste! The beautiful Pirin ski mountain has well-groomed tree-lined pistes, a good snow-sure record and an efficient infrastructure. A regular bus-shuttle service interlinks the town, the mountain hotels and the main ski centres. There are plenty of Ski centres in Bansko which can be easily found along with everything you need from lessons to equipment and passes all found at the bottom of the gondola.
Thanks to the excellent ski facilities combined with the architecture and history it has developed into a favourite ski & snowboard destination which has a predominantly alpine character, well groomed tree lined pistes and 44 technoalpine snow cannons covering most (approx 80%) of the slopes making the snow season last longer.
The town of Bansko was also a candidate for the European Biathlon Championship hosting and a candidate for Olympic winter games 2014.
